Wineries in San Diego

Tue, 13th Sep 2016

Wineries in San Diego may not be as famous as Napa Valley or Sonoma County. However, San Diego features the favorable climate and soil conditions vines need to flourish, bringing forth a dynamic range of wineries all across San Diego County. Come join us as Dining Joint uncorks San Diego Wine Country. We can't cover them all in one blog, so where's your spot?

La Finquita Winery and Vineyard - Ramona

Located in Ramona, La Finquita Winery and Vineyard is worth seeking. This "little farm" features a variety of tasting options, from Whites to Reds, Dessert and Seasonal wines. Bring your own plate of cheese and deli meats and enjoy a glass or two of Midnight Kiss, a rich, velvety blend of Petite Syrah and Petit Verdot filled with notes of black cherry and blueberry with hints of violet and a whisper of dark chocolate. Relax and unwind on the 8-acre property with a bottle of their signature wine and you just might catch a glimpse of red-tail hawks playing in the breeze.

Dulzura Vineyard and Winery - Dulzura

Saddle up and go on a winery road trip! Head east of downtown San Diego and make your way to the Dulzura Vineyard and Winery located on the historic pioneer era Clark Ranch in Dulzura. Settle into the tasting room and get ready to sample red and white wine varietals made on site, from their own grapes. I love red wines and Dulzura Vineyard and Winery does not disappoint with their full-bodied, robust and spicy Zinfandel. Fans of white wine will enjoy the elegant, fruit flavors of the award-winning Viognier. Have a glass or two and take a ride on a horse-drawn carriage!

Vinavanti Urban Winery - Hillcrest

Located in the heart of Hillcrest, Vinavanti Urban Winery hits the wine spot thanks to locally sourced grapes that produce fine red, white and blended wines. Not sure what to get? Order a flight and sip on a variety of wine varietals. Try the YOLO Flight and you can taste all of their 100% vineyard wine varietals! All that sipping is going to make you hungry. Good thing there are plenty of food options that pair perfectly with your wine. Try the Garlic Shrimp Tacos or the Short Rib Sliders. For something a little lighter, you can always order Medjool Dates or Olives and Almonds. Great place to unwind and sip on wine!

Vesper Vineyards - Escondido

Organically farmed and naturally fermented, Vesper Vineyards in Escondido offers more-than-sip-worthy wines that are giving more famous wine valley regions a run for the money. Order a tasting flight, order wines by the glass or grab a growler and have it filled with one of the wines on tap! Try a bottle of their direct to press, fermented in tank 2014 Vesper ~ McCormick Ranch Rose or a 2011 Vesper ~ Orfila Vineyard Syrah and sip your way to heaven.
