Best Winery Restaurants in San Diego

Wed, 31st Aug 2016

Unless you are a wine expert, pairing the perfect glass of wine with your meal might seem like a daunting task. After all, not all foods mix well with all wine varietals. Luckily, San Diego is home to some fantastic winery restaurants, with a helpful staff and oenophiles ready to assist you in making the most appetizing and palette pleasing choice! Here are some of our favorite winery restaurants in San Diego. Where's your spot?

Wine Vault & Bistro - Little Italy

Once you settle into the cozy Wine Vault & Bistro, you can expect scrumptious three to- five-course farm to table meals paired with an equally scrumptious, lip-smacking glass of wine. Communal tables beg you to make friends as you toast the night away. Expect small plate prix-fixe menu items paired with wine, it is all laid out for you by tasteful oenophiles that know how to please the most discerning taste buds. Since the fresh, seasonal menu's change almost daily, it can be hard to keep up. Reserve your spot for Sunday night Winemakers Dinner, where top winemakers hang out and socialize while you nosh and make new friends.

Village Vino - Kensington

Grab some friends and head over to Village Vino in Kensington, where you can enjoy a prix-fixe menu that includes your choice of salad, flatbread and two glasses of wine. These are smaller plates, so if you come starving, you might want to also order a Charcuterie plate featuring a selection of garlic rosemary, wild boar, duck, and chorizo salumi, proscuitto, cornichons, and olives. My vegetarian friend loves the Autumn Heaven, a skillet featuring butternut squash puree, roasted brussel sprouts, guanciale and gorgonzola. Be sure to check out the impressive list of family-owned wine varietals and bring a bottle or two home.

Cordiano Winery – Escondido

Nestled high in the hills of the San Pasqual Valley is where you’ll find Escondido’s family-owned Cordiano Winery. The owners are straight from Calabria, Italy, so they know a thing or two about fine wines as well as fine food. Thing is, rather than a fancy menu filled with fanciful food, you get some of the tastiest pizza this side of New York City. Pair a gorgeous, locally produced bottle of Syrah with their gourmet pizza options that range from Veggie to Meat lovers and everything in between. Grab a table and take in the spectacular valley views while you sip delectable wine and simple, yet fresh gourmet pizza!

Solterra Winery & Kitchen - Encinitas

Open and spacious, the barrel-lined Solterra Winery & Kitchen in Encinitas is an ideal place to sample a variety of wines while dining on fresh, coastal and Mediterranean cuisine. All the food is fresh here, from the salads, to the burgers and an inviting Tapas menu offering delectable delights such as marinated olives, octopus, grilled asparagus, Calabrian pepper shrimp and more. Try the juicy Grilled Navarra Lamb Burger featuring piquillo aioli, lettuce, onion tomata and manchego cheese with a #3 flight of locals only wine featuring wines from our local region and enjoy the coastal Encinitas breeze and atmosphere.
