You'd think grilling meats such as marinated beef, beef tongue, small and large intestines (yes, intestines!), pork ribs, squid, beef brisket, and pork belly would yield a peculiar aroma, well, the amazingly ventilated hot plates prevent the aroma from taking over your senses and your clothes. One thing is certain; dining at a Korean BBQ joint is fun and certainly not vegan-friendly!
Manna BBQ - San Marcos, Kearny Mesa, Mira Mesa, Chula Vista
Like manna from heaven, only this manna is in the form of cook-your-own, all-you-can-eat-meat! At Manna BBQ, you can gather a group of friends or family and eat as much meat as you can handle. My personal favorite is the Bulgoli, a sweet marinated beef, not quite as thin as the others, which grills perfectly and almost melts in your mouth. All Manna BBQ joints get packed, so best to be patient and go hungry as you're going to get to grill TONS of meat! Don't forget to try the sides, such as spicy pickles and the steamed Egg Casserole.
Dae Jang Keum Korean BBQ - Kearny Mesa
Just in case you don't know, many of the top Korean BBQ, and for that matter Asian dining joints, are located in the Mira, Kearny, Clairemont Mesa's and Convoy areas. In fact, you're bound to find an abundance of exotic Asian flavors, from Chinese, to Vietnamese, and of course, Korean. With that said, Dae Jang Keum Korean BBQ has everything you'd expect from a Korean BBQ joint, including some extras such as Hand Broiled Monkfish and other Monkfish delights.
Seoul Man Food Truck - Mobile food truck serving Chula Vista, Linda Vista, Bay Park areas
Okay, so it's not exactly a sit-down dining joint adventure, however, if you happen to be out and about in San Diego and spot the Seoul Man Food Truck, be sure to stop! As you can guess by the name, this is one food truck that offers Korean food delights, including Korean BBQ that's Seoul-fully prepared. Perhaps you're hanging out at one of the countless craft beer breweries in San Diego and you spot the Seoul Man Food Truck. If so, be sure to order the Gangnam Style Flat Iron Steak Bowl and don't be surprised if you find yourself busting out some Gangnam-style dance moves right there on the sidewalk!
