A Day with Your Dog

Dining Joint

Though the dog days of summer are officially over, the weather in San Diego is friendly all year round. San Diego is an outdoor paradise and your dog loves to be outdoors just as much as you do - and nothing makes your dog happier than getting to hang out with you. A day of playing fetch, Frisbee and exploring can lead to the munchies. As a dog owner, you know how tough it can be to find a nice place to eat where your furry, four-legged friend can join you. Here are two foodie-approved, two-paws up, dog-friendly restaurants in San Diego that welcome dogs and their human counterparts too.

The Patio on Lamont Street 4445 Lamont St, Pacific Beach
Pacific Beach is more than just a hot party spot for twentysomething's, it's also a party spot for dog's too, because, let's face it, dog's like to party just as much as you do, except their idea of partying is chasing stuff and greeting their fellow four-legged friends by sniffing their derrière. When it's time to chill, you and your dog can strut on over to The Patio on Lamont Street in Pacific Beach. You're both in for a treat as your pooch is welcomed with a gourmet house-made dog biscuit and you get to choose from an extensive craft beer menu featuring some of San Diego's finest. An inventive breakfast, lunch and dinner menu offers culinary delights like a Seafood Benedict with poached eggs, shrimp, sea scallop, bearnaise and a house-made biscuit. Get there for lunch and order the Kobe Burger that smells and tastes so good, it just might drive your dog wild and possibly obnoxious. I've never met a dog that liked salad, so if you know your dog will go nuts around beef, try the delicious Broken Down Nicoise Salad featuring Seared ahi, hericot verts, potato, and an egg topped with a sherry vinaigrette.

Casa De Bandini Forum Carlsbad 1901 Calle Barcelona Carlsbad, CA
If you need to take your pooch with you while window-shopping at the Forum in Carlsbad, you are in luck thanks to an Old Town favorite that now calls The Forum in Carlsbad home - Casa De Bandini. A long day of window-shopping can make even the most hardcore window shopper hungry, tired and thirsty. Casa De Bandini features an outdoor patio where you and your pooch can rest your weary feet. Sip on a Giant Margarita or two while soaking up the outdoor patio with its Old Mexico vibe and lively Mariachi entertainment. With an extensive menu featuring over 80 entrees, even the most discerning taste buds will find something satisfying, just make sure to drop a scrap or two under the table for your well-behaved dog. During the fall season, you can't go wrong with the Churrasco Steak - a certified Angus Beef Steak, flame-grilled to perfection and served on a bed of roasted potatoes. Combine the Churrasco Steak with the hot-off-the grill homemade tortillas and you've got a bonafide fiesta happening inside your mouth. Tip: BYODB (Bring your own dog biscuits.)
